Hi, I’m Aila!

I started as a Cambridge historian, detoured into corporate tech, and somehow ended up here – an entrepreneur, serial traveller, and unapologetic experimenter sharing the useful lessons (and inevitable chaos) along the way.

A Little About Me

I grew up on a council estate in North London, and when I was four, my mum had a life-changing stroke. As you might expect, that made my early years a little… unconventional. Becoming a young carer meant balancing school with responsibilities most people don’t encounter until much later — which sounds dramatic, but mainly involved learning to be adaptable, resilient and organised before a normal person would need to be.

I asked myself an annoying but important question: if I kept living my life exactly the way I was, week after week, would it actually end up taking me where I wanted to be? The answer was a pretty lacklustre “probably not”.

That’s when I decided to be a bit more intentional, to spend time doing things I actually enjoy. And part of that, for me, is helping people – not in a dramatic, life-saving way, but in the small ways that make someone’s day a bit lighter. That feels worth doing.
